Help kick off Hope's Hearts! Exploited. Abused. Unloved. Bullied. Make it a summer of hope! The Hope's Hearts project on Thursdays this summer will enable kids and adults to create Hope's Hearts wind chimes filled with words of hope and spread them all over our community for others to find who need hope.
Many youth are especially vulnerable to being lured by traffickers in the summer. We wanted to create a positive activity for youth and adults to engage in that will also accomplish the goal of reducing youth vulnerability to trafficking in our community. In the art studio time, we will create ceramic hearts stamped with words of encouragement.
Our 5 words this year are:
Hope (courage to keep moving forward)
Courage (strength to make the journey)
Strength (Inner power to withstand whatever comes)
Faith (the wings and sail of our dreams)
Wisdom (the guardian of our choices)
These hearts will be part of the beautiful Hope's Hearts wind chimes that also include information about how to get out of an abusive situation and a call to encourage others. We will spread (hide) the Hope's Hearts all over our community with special focus on the places known to be hiding spots or hangouts for runaways or youth who may be vulnerable to traffickers.
When a person finds a Hope's Heart, they will be encouraged to find someone else who needs a word of encouragement and pass it on. We will also instruct them to download the 'BAND - Organize Your Group' mobile app and request to be added to Hope's Hearts and share their act of encouragement to someone who needed it. Together we can change the atmosphere of our entire community and reduce vulnerability to trafficking this summer!
Free subs and soda for first 100 people will be provided.
